History of Casio

Casio Computer Co., Ltd. - Japanese manufacturer of electronic devices. Corporation was founded in April 1946 in Tokyo. Best known as a manufacturer of calculators, audio equipment, PDAs, cameras, musical instruments, plates and wristwatches. In 1957, the company Casio released the world's first fully electronic calculator (Model 14-A).

Casio Company was founded in April 1946 by Tadao Casio, engineer-technologist.

Once in 1949, Tadao and his younger brothers see electric calculator on the first business show in Ginza (Tokyo), they decided to use the profit from "Yubiva" tube sales to develop their own model of the calculator. Most calculators at the time were controlled manually or by motor (adding machine). Casio Brothers had some knowledge of electronics and decided to make a calculator that works by using solenoids. The first working prototype was completed by 1954. It was the first Japanese electromechanical calculator. In 1957 he presented the calculator "model 14 - A» - the world's first all-electric compact calculator, based on relay technology, and was sold for 485,000 yen. In the same year the company Casio Computer Co., Ltd. was established

1965 - Year of the electronic desktop calculator Casio 001. This was preceded by a small crisis in which the company was once failed to react to market changes calculators on which model functioning transistors, changed the model of the relay. In 1972 - it was presented Casio Mini personal calculator, which was sold at the price of 12800 yen. It sold about 10 million copies of this model.

1974 - the date of the development of the first watch with perpetual calendar called Casiotron. Before its creation the company's engineers have put forward the thesis "Time - is a continuous process of addition: plus seconds, plus a minute, plus an hour. Why do not we apply our extensive experience in the field of calculators to release a new watch? ". So were born Casiotron hours. Their value was at that time about 60 000 yen.

In 1980, Casio introduced the first instrument of its own production - Casiotone digital piano.

In 1983 he was one of the most significant events in the history of the company Casio - public first watch G-Shock were presented. The group that developed the concept, was founded in 1981, and the creation and testing of the prototype took about two years.

The very history of shockproof watches G-Shock is quite unusual. At the beginning of the work before the designers were given the task, bearing the name of the "rule of three dozen" - first, the clock had to withstand a fall from a height of 10 meters, and secondly, to withstand the pressure of 10 bar, and thirdly, to operate continuously 10 years on one charge of the battery. For all the tests have been tested around 200 samples. None of them did not come under the "rule of three dozen" completely. And now, when he had to write a report on the causes of failure, the head of the design team, Mr. Ibe, went to the park for a few minutes to gather my thoughts and complete report on the causes of failure. But suddenly he saw the little girl throws a ball on the track and catches it. And he came up with the idea - why not immerse the clock module in a protective shell - a kind of ball? And so it came to light the first hours of G-Shock. Prototypes have already finished watches were tested, which are parts of motorcycle engines. At the presentation itself in 1983 to show all the features of hours, Mr. Ibe threw them across the room, dropping, standing on them. The first production model was a watch Casio G-Shock DW-5000C.

Then it was the turn of the invention clock with built-in pressure sensors, temperature and compass. In 1985 we saw the light of Casio Pela hours. Their key feature was the thickness of only 3.9 mm and a record low weight - 12 grams, which is achieved by the fact that the strap and the housing of these watches were only a single unit.

In 1994, there were watch brands Baby-G - brand shockproof watches for girls with waterproof; Edifice - brand of classic watches with sporty design elements; ProTrek - a brand designed for people who deal with tourism and mountaineering (multifunctional clock with sensors). Currently in Russia in addition to the above brands officially sold brand watches Sheen (classic watches for girls with design materials like sapphire crystal, titanium, ceramics, crystals Swarovski) and clock General Collection (models such lines as BEM, Lineage , DataBank et al.).
